Daily Living Skills
Learning daily living skills is not about doing things the way someone else thinks you should. It is about being able to make a meal you actually like, get to an appointment on your own or keep on top of your money without it feeling overwhelming. Our team works alongside you, at your pace, on the things that matter to you.
We are a Central Queensland team, so we know the local buses, shops, services and the distances between them. That local knowledge means the skills we build together are practical ones you can use in your own life.

How Daily Living Skills Help
Building skills for daily life tends to have a knock-on effect. Small wins add up, and the change usually shows up in ways people do not expect.
- Cook meals you enjoy, safely and within your budget
- Keep your home clean, tidy and organised in a way that works for you
- Manage money, pay bills on time and plan for bigger purchases
- Use public transport or plan travel to appointments and social outings
- Do the shopping, read labels and compare prices with confidence
- Manage your own personal care routine and health appointments
- Rely less on other people for the things you would rather do yourself
- Feel more confident heading out into the community
What Our Daily Living Skills Service Includes
We do not run a one-size-fits-all program. What your support looks like depends on your goals, so this is a guide to the areas we commonly work on, not a fixed list. If there is something else you would like support with, just ask. Chances are, we can help.

Cooking and meal preparation

Cleaning and looking after your home

Budgeting and money skills

Shopping and errands

Travel and using public transport

Personal care and daily routines
Who This Service Is For ?

Our daily living skills support is for NDIS participants who want to build practical independence.
That includes:
- Adults living independently or preparing to move out of the family home
- Young people getting ready for the step into adult life
- Participants living with intellectual disability, psychosocial disability, autism or acquired brain injury
- People returning home after a stay in hospital or change in circumstances
- Anyone whose plan includes capacity building supports
We know this community.
We’ve been part of Rockhampton for years and understand the local landscape, the services available, the gaps that exist, and how to navigate complex systems, including child protection and out-of-home care.
We bring lived and professional experience.
A significant portion of our workforce is drawn from the communities we serve, including strong First Nations representation. That lived connection matters deeply when building trust with participants, children, and families, particularly those with experience of statutory systems.
Three generations, one team.
Rock Support Services is a multi-generational family business. The values that guide how we treat our team are the same values we bring to every person we support.
We collaborate across disciplines.
Our behaviour support practitioners work alongside allied health professionals, educators, child safety officers, and support coordinators to make sure everyone is working from the same page.
Why Choose Rock Support Services
We know Central Queensland because we live and work here. We know Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gracemere, Emu Park and Mount Morgan, the transport gaps between them and the services that are actually available locally.
Our support workers are qualified, screened and supported by a team that takes NDIS obligations seriously. We also work within your NDIS plan and are happy to coordinate with your support coordinator, plan manager, allied health team or family, so everyone involved is pulling in the same direction.

How It Works
Step 1
Get in touch. Call, email or fill in the form. Tell us as much or as little as you like.
Step 2
Have a chat. Sit down with one of our team members to talk through your goals, your plan and what you would like to work on.
Step 3
Build a plan together. Agree on the skills you want to focus on, how often support happens and who from our team is the right fit. You get a clear service agreement so you know exactly what is happening.
Step 4
Get started. Support begins in your home and community, at your pace. Progress gets noted along the way so you can see how far you have come.
Step 5
Check in and adjust. Goals change and plans get reviewed. Your support is checked in on regularly and adjusted so it keeps matching what you need, including input into your plan review if that helps.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Many NDIS plans include capacity-building supports that can cover help with daily living skills but this depends on your individual plan and goals. The best way to find out is to check with your support coordinator or plan manager or give us a call and we can help you work out what to look for.
How to ask for daily living skills funding at your NDIS plan review
It depends entirely on your goals but common daily living skills activities include planning and cooking a meal, doing a load of washing, setting up a budget, catching a bus to an appointment or doing a supermarket shop with a list. We do them with you in real settings rather than practising in a classroom because that is how the skills stick.
Yes. Daily living skills for adults are learnt at every age, whether you are moving out of home for the first time at twenty or rebuilding routines at sixty after a change in your health. We start with what you can already do and build from there, at whatever pace feels right.
We support participants across Rockhampton and the surrounding Central Queensland region, including Yeppoon, Gracemere, Emu Park and Mount Morgan. If you are not sure whether you are in our area, give us a call, and we will let you know.
